Clay Knick

Way cool.

Brian in Fresno

That is really seriously cool, Mark. May I ask how I may get such a catalog?

Mark (the other one)

Now is there any way they'll let you shoot photos for the catalog?

Sam

What's that ESV wide margin I spy there then?

J. Mark Bertrand

Clay -- Thanks!

Brian -- The best way is to be quoted in one, which is how I got it. Failing that, you could try requesting one from Cambridge UK. The UK offerings differ from the North American ones (for example, the Pocket Reference NIV is available there, not here) but they may send it anyway. It's worth a shot.

Mark -- Then I'd have to go buy a flash or something. :)

Sam -- I've copied all the ESV-related text from the catalogue here: http://jmarkbertrand.typepad.com/bibledesign/2008/03/more-info-on-ca.html

Buy a flash? Just push the exposure a stop(or two) and adjust the film speed up a little... It helps to use a fast lens, the better photos that I've shot have been with a Nikon D3 and a 50 mm f1.4 prime lens.

Flashes... we don't need no stinkin' flashes.

J. Mark Bertrand

Funny you should say that because I'm expecting a 50mm f1.8 prime any day now. (Too cheap to spring for the f1.4.)

Thomas Lane

I can see why they used your review in their catalogue; it convinced me to buy that bible. Very persuasive, indeed.

Jerry

As nice as page 11 is, I like page 9 better.

If the Cambridge ESV is going to be the same specs as the other Pitt Minons, it looks like it's going to have words of Christ in red, a solution i find scripturally and asthetically unacceptable :(

David Dewey

I gather from a contact at Cambridge, that they are hoping to have the Pitt Minion ESV out for May (though that seems optimistic); there is a major UK national Christian Exhibition mid-month. I have also gleaned that no final decision has been made over red/black letter issue. Red letter certainly, but if you want to see a black letter as well, make contact and let them know. I can't see red letter being popular in the UK. Spelling will be American. You can send an e-mail from the website: http://www.cambridge.org/uk/bibles/

Rod Summers

Yes!!! I made contact with the US side of Cambridge and requested two things of the ESV wide margin- black letter and the centering of the txt on the page so the margins are equal. Keep those black letter emails going!!

Jerry

I made two requests for the ESV Pitt-Minion in an email to Cambridge:

1) Black only text.
2) Black ribbon (preferably two black ribbons).
