Man, that's nice! I wonder how the Pitt Minion differs from the RL Allan ESV1 when opened flat on a table?

Greg Terry

I have a black goatskin NIV Pitt Minion and it is excellent! The feel of the goatskin is like velvet and the binding laid flat right out of the box and it is very readable too.

matt morales

drooling!!!

Cicero

I am extremely excited about this Bible! I just ordered my Brown Goatskin edition today. Thanks for the great pictures!

Rod Summers

I just love brown Bibles. This is painful just sitting here with my laptop looking at that newborn baby. I just need to hold, hug, cuddle, and smell that beautiful boy (or is it a girl??).

Matt Jensen

Brown bibles do seem a bit calmer than the traditional black, don’t they? More anti-traditionalism, less fundamentalist and more hippy-ish (i.e. a brown bible is more prone to wear sandals and hug trees). A black bible tends to be more sophisticated in its presentation. You’ll find it reading in the library, wearing conservative clothing, and downing massive amounts of coffee while thinking intensely on theological and philosophical ideas. I like my pursuit of inner Zen, but give me a black bible and call me boring.. a hippy bible is no bible for me!

Cicero

The Cambridge website says that this bible is in stock! Does this mean that the Pitt Minion is ready to ship out in America?

matt morales

Matt Jenson - You can stick with black, but I will stick with the Brown ESV...if it was good enough for the apostle Paul then it is good enough for me ;)

Kyle

Cicero,

You must be looking at the Cambridge U.K. site. The Baker Publishing Site still says it is due in October.

Alan

Looks great. Too bad they couldn't have spent the extra nickel (ha'penny?) for an extra ribbon marker or two.

Matt, I think you may be reading too much into black vs. brown. When I see brown leather I certainly don't think 'hippie'! I love my ESV SCR, but can't wait for my Allan's tan (and maybe a Pitt Minion in brown...).

andy

Hi i have a request, not connected to this Bible particularly, hope thats ok...

I'm looking for a Goatskin or French morrocco bound Bible with NO bleedthrough(or as good as it gets)...Sizewise comparable to the Cambridge concord edition,NASB if possible, but i'm flexable..

I don't want to come across as ott ,but bleedthrough drives me NUTS

Any suggestions?

Matt Jensen

Andy:

Check this out: http://jmarkbertrand.typepad.com/bibledesign/2007/09/the-rl-allan-re.html

I know you said NASB, but God told me it's time for you to upgrade to a better translation and buy the perfect bible in goatskin(above).

andy

Thks Matt are check it out..Left your page up,to see if i got a reply, very good of you to answer..

I tried my local Christian store, and there was basically nothing..I'd be happy to go with a ESV..

cheers andy

andy

Matt their site is showing stock for the ESV2 only...Any difference with bleedthrough on the ESV2 compared to the ESV1 and ESV1T???

Also do you know if its the latest texts, didn't ESV update the texts this year??

Thks in advance

andy

andy

final question sorryyyyyyyyyy....Ive just notice on their site their waiting for the revised texts before they print any more...I need the bible urgently so back to square one...

Sooooooo one final question whats the best Kjv or NASAB with NO bleedthrough

cheerssssss andy

Kyle

Andy,

Alan's will be ready to ship the ESV1 within 10 days according to a recent email I received from Nicholas Gray. It will be the updated text. This is a very nice Bible, if not THE BEST. It is simply the best bound Bible on the planet. As far as paper opacity, it remains to be seen. As far as I know, no one has seen the new run of the Allan's ESV1 yet. Allan's is great to work with and if the Bible doesn't satisfy you they will accept a return.

Kyle

Correction:
I meant to say: Allan's "hopes" to be dispatching the ESV1 in about ten days.

andy

Thks for that Kyle!!

I popped in to my local store today, and i'm now offically a Bible Snob ;-)

Clint

Does anyone have a Pitt Minion NASB in goatskin or French Morocco, thinking about getting one. I am a die hard NASB guy, so ESV isn't as appealing. I really wish Allan would do an NASB, but Baker will not give them the rights. However, I am trying to have my NASB thinline rebound by Abba, although it's been two weeks with no reply.

Back to subject, is the Goatskin that much better than the French Morocco on these Pitt Minions? I think i will get the goatskin, what say you guys??

Kathy

Clint, I have not seen the French Morocco, but the goatskin is the only edition that has art-gilt page edges if that matters to you.

Clint

Thanks Kathy, hadn't thought about the art-guilt pages, that pretty much seals the deal! Goatskin it is.

Cicero

By "October" I assume they mean October 1, since they released it in the U.K. on September 1.

Rod Summers

Anyone have an update on the US release date? October 3 has come and gone. The brown one really looks inviting.
