Ben Ting

It's HUMONGOUS! So if you suddenly notice your pastor's biceps are beefier than before, may be you should ask: "Pastor, have you been carrying the ESV Study Bible lately?"

Fr. Bill Klock

Okay, so where's mine??? I ordered the black TrueTone the first day that Crossway was allowing pre-orders and my order summary on their site says "Back Ordered."

Sheesh! I can't believe I'm this impatient over a study Bible -- what's wrong with me?

Cicero

If I preordered on September 4, does that mean that my copy is of the first printing? I just checked the Crossway Bibles website, and it says that the Brown TruTone is now out of stock until November 24! I've also checked at evangelicalbible.com, and mine has not been shipped out yet. Does that mean that mine will come after the second printing?

Thomas Black

I appreciate the link Mark.
In response to Ben Ting above I might note that my left arm is beginning to get a bit off balance from the other.
Fr. Klock & Cicero: I ordered this one in May. Not sure what that means for when you'll get yours.

Two quick questions...

(1) @Mark: Any chance you could write up a blog on the differences of all of the different types of coverings. From basic to the more higher end (such as this calfskin). I would love to see a great blog that compares them all together. Based from the list at the esv website, they've got a huge amount of cover options... would be nice to know what's what.

(2) @Thomas, does this specific Calfskin ESV SB have red print in it?

Thanks.

Thomas Black

@Yokhannan: I'm one who is happy to say it is a blackletter edition. The only red I'm aware of in the Bible is the triangle on the title page.

Paul Lund

Got the Black TruTone version today. It is a "Home Run!"

Hope I live long enough to wear it out.

Way to go Crossway.

As I mentioned another part of this blog, thru a phone call to crossway I was told the binder was having problems so we might have to wait until end of Oct or nov.

Westminster Bookstore has a few Calfskin - ready to ship. I cancelled my Amazon order and placed an order with Westminster last Friday; it shipped the same day! See their site here:http://www.wtsbooks.com/index-exec/

Mike Smith

I recalled Crossway to day and was told they started sending the calfskin editions to some bookstores, when they found out the binders had some family problems and had to wait until they could start binding again. Hopefully by Oct 27 to 29.

Cicero

Has anyone received their ESV Study Bible from evangelicalbible.com yet?
Mine has been shipped and is on the way. I can hardly wait!

Charles Hadden

Thanks for the WTS idea. I had a minor problem with Crossway and my preorder got messed up. It wasn't going to ship until 11/12. WTS had it 5 % cheaper than the preorder price. I did the order online after 5PM and it was on its' way before 6:30!! Plus I am much closer to WTS than Crossway.

Yep - My TruTone came from them on Sat, 10-18. No problems with them or the product. The ESV Study web site is also terrific.

FWIW, CBD now shows ESVSB in Calfskin in stock.

Brian Fox

I cancelled my order with Amazon.com on Friday and picked up the TruTone brown at a local store. The paper exceeds my wildest dreams!

Cicero

I got my Brown ESVSB in the mail today, and it exceeds my expectations!

Michael Swoveland

I got to look at the ESVSB in leather and TruTone today. WOW! It is a whopper, but it looks like they did a great job. I am very tempted to get one even though I prefer the Authorized Version.

The ESVSB is going to be the first Bible in history to spawn a cottage industry for after-market, specialty backpacks. ;-)

Thomas Black

Just revisiting this post to give an update. My son's birthday (9yrs) was in January. He came walking through my office carrying his gift and award bible. I looked at the pathetic thing, which (thankfully) was already showing signs of wearing out. I asked him if he would give it to me.
He handed it over and I immediately swapped it out with my old his new Calfskin ESVSB. My son took one look at it, hefted it into his arms and proclaimed, "I feel like a man!"

That's my son. :-)
