Shoot! I'm down in Portland, OR. If you were there a little earlier I might have been able to make it. Oh well. I hope you enjoy your time in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!

bill

My kids will be in Seattle tomorrow night. Maybe they can come say Hi.

Hmm.

Thought this was a blog about Bible design. Guess I was mistaken.

John

Yeah, Mr. Bertrand is acting like this is his blog and he can post whatever he wants. We pay alot of money for this blog.

Fernando Villegas

Hmm., if you're new to the blog, you should know that the summer months tend to be slow, as Mark does a lot of traveling during that time. But he more than makes up for it when he gets back. In the meantime, he's got a ton of reviews; and every post up to now is in the archives. That should tide you over till Mark gets more active again. I do hope you decide to give the blog another chance--you'll be glad you did!

John Calvin

Pah, Summer is relative. It's winter here in Australia and I only found out about the new Allen 400 year anniversary KJV by going to their site. C'mon, get off the beach and get blogging, or I'll make another site my home page!

Fernando Villegas

John, I doubt very seriously Mark has been lying around on a beach the last couple of months. He has a full-time occupation. He is a professional author, not a blogger. He makes no money from this blog (and you pay no money for this blog), so I doubt he would be too concerned if you chose to make another site your home page. You have that choice; you're free to do so.

Mark has done an excellent job with this blog. I don't remember how it is that I ran into it, but I'm sure glad I did! Even got a couple of facebook friends out of this! :) But it's a shame that some on here have become so demanding lately, or maybe just too lazy to do actual internet research for themselves. I mean, really, how difficult is it to bookmark the Allan website, or the Evangelical Bible site or a few others, and then just check them once a week or so to see if there's anything new?!

John

Yes. This is a great blog. Also, there are active conversations running on posts that are over 2 years old sometimes. There's plenty of activity here.

Fernando Villegas

Try the Facebook page. Most of the activity has moved over to there. Otherwise, move on...

Fernando Villegas

John...I just read your second comment again...at first I read it as sarcasm, but I feel that I may have interpreted it incorrectly. If I read it wrong, please excuse me. If it WAS sarcasm, my comment stands...

John

Fernando, if you are referring to the Aug 5 0945 comment, that is not sarcasm. I love this blog. No offense taken.

bill

Fernando and all,
This blog is most certainly active. Like John says, folks post stuff (requests, comments, etc) on old threads all the time. It's more timeless (and easier to search) than the facebook page. See Recent Comments in the right-hand column (after Bible Reviews) to see what's happening here, or at least the last 10 posts. If you just check the most recent threads, you'll miss a lot. Warning though, you have to check more often than weekly because there's usually a lot more than 10 new posts per week.

Fernando Villegas

John, thanks for your understanding.

All, my earlier comments yesterday and today were a reaction to some who sometimes show up on the blog with criticism that Mark doesn't post as much as they want him to, or doesn't review the Bibles they want him to, or whatever. My apologies to all!

By the way, please don't misunderstand my facebook comment. My point wasn't that the blog wasn't active (as I agree that it is), simply that it slows down during the summer when Mark doesn't post as often. That's fine with me, I've got no problems with it. But for those who want more, there's a lot of interaction that takes place on the facebook page.

Blessings to you all!

John

I am very excited for Mark's review of the Cambridge ESV Paragraph bible. It's going to be awesome!

bill

Tell me more, John. Do you mean the new Cambridge Paragraph Bible in compact size? That's KJV, or David Norton's rendering of it, right, not an ESV? Is that the one your meant?

John

Bill, I'm just dreaming of a Cambridge ESV Paragraph bible. There gonna do it someday. I just know it. :)

John

I can't fix my typo. THEY'RE, not there. Oh, and the new Cambridge Paragraph bible coming out in the KJV does sound pretty cool.

Arianne

hmmm...just found out something strange:
My favourite Bible is a Pitt Minion ESV. The language is OK, but more important is the size, and the way it is bound, lovely leather, fits in my coatpocket, easy to lay it flat on the table, good paper, thin but also good to take notes on it.
However, since I am Dutch I would prefer a "Dutch Pitt Minion". I just couldn't believe it when yesterday I discovered my Pitt Minion is printed and bound in the Netherlands.
Now I wonder why - why- why there is no Pitt Minion in Dutch....
